Commodores - Brick House for Jazz String Quartet
Commodores - Brick House for Jazz String Quartet
An alternative string quartet arrangement of The Commodore's "Brick House" for 2 violins, viola, and cello. Package includes PDFs of full score and each instrument.
This arrangement utilizes extended string techniques such as chopping, strum bowing, and jazz reharmonization to put a unique spin on a classic Motown tune.
Can also be used as part 2 of the "Commodores Medley for String Quartet" when purchased with my other arrangement, "Easy!"
This arrangement by Kyle Pudenz was debuted by the Belmont University Jazz String Quartet in 2014, and featured on Kyle Pudenz's Senior Recital. Inspired by quartet arrangements by Tracy Silverman and the Turtle Island String Quartet, it uses jazz reharmonization and alternative string techniques to emulate the style and feel of a funk band in an acoustic string instrumentation.
Check out the video below to see this arrangement performed by the Belmont Jazz String Quartet live at Blackbird Studios in Nashville!
